Large, broad leaves have creamy white to chartreuse centers that feather outwards to wide, deep green borders. Large, fast-growing classic houseplant with pointed, ovate leaves. Grows best in warm, humid environments; likes bright indirect light but must be shielded from direct sun; rotate periodically to keep growth balanced. May grow into a palm-like shape if lower leaves are removed as the plant grows. Highly toxic raphides which cause intense oral numbing if leaves are chewed inspired the common name “dumbcane” which is now considered inappropriately derogatory; keep away from children and pets.
