Very fragrant, dense cylindrical clusters of dark blue-purple florets on rigid, uniform stems with bright green sword-like foliage. Best planted in large clusters in areas that are moist in spring and drier in summer. Makes a lovely cut flower and also may be forced in containers or bulb vases for indoor enjoyment if pre-cooled. Somewhat perennial in optimum conditions and if deadheaded promptly. Deer, rabbit, and squirrel resistant. Hyacinthus orientalis
