Design Your Alley Garden

2 – 4 PM
Kathie Hoyer

Urban gardening often includes dealing with derelict corners and strips that need constant weeding or mowing. While these problematic areas may not be as visible as your front yard, they can be annoying to a diligent gardener. Last summer we ran a happily successful experiment with our own neglected strip alongside the fence in our alley. In this class, Kathie will share how she prepared the space and mapped the design to create a low-maintenance garden completely from seeds that were directly sown in the ground. Next, she will guide you through the process of designing a flower garden for your own neglected space and create a timeline for tasks to maximize your outcome with minimal effort. Please come prepared with complete measurements for the area you wish to transform.
