Perennial Maintenance: The Chelsea Chop

10 – 11 AM
Taught by Kathie Hoyer

Late spring into early summer is the optimal time to pinch or cut back many perennials. With minimal effort you will be rewarded with denser, sturdier plants, more flowers, and an extended bloom period. The resulting emergent foliage strengthens and feeds their root systems and increases their adaption to the heat of the summer and rigors of winter. Which perennials to cut back, along with when and how to do it, will be covered in this lecture. There will be time for questions at the end of the class.
