Showy and unusual, available in many colors and intriguing variations, with the basic form of a narrow, fluted cone-shape with a small triangular lid that arches over the mouth of the pitcher. If grown outdoors, they will catch all their own food; specialized fertilizers may be applied to leaves and pitchers. In St. Louis, they may be grown in an artificial bog garden in a protected location with a winter mulch; containerized plants must be set in a saucer of water to keep the soil consistently moist and either buried outdoors or wintered in a cool place. Complete information may be found on the Missouri Botanical Plant Database. Sarracenia spp.
