Pale green and sprawling with orange colored, toothy traps. An unusual bog plant native to the southeastern coastal plains which fascinated Charles Darwin himself. Severely threatened due to habitat destruction, it now captivates indoor gardeners up to the challenge. The electrically charged, hinged “mouths” will catch flies, yellow jackets and gnats when grown outdoors, supplying all their food; indoors, use tweezers to feed the traps live mealworms. Must be kept in a saucer of a few inches of distilled or purified water; a few traps may “burn” and die back when transitioning to full sun, but new traps will grow.
